This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Project
Most students struggle to feel positively about themselves as mathematicians.
I want to help my students develop a positive association with math in a variety of ways.
The soft seats will be used during a learning station to create comfort while learning since math can be anxiety-inducing for some.
The books I've chosen highlight development and perseverance which we'll use to write and draw ideas about what we hope for ourselves and our growth this year. I'd also like to encourage my students to engage with math in different ways. By using the manipulatives in small groups we'll get "hands-on" with our understanding and see how many can be tactile and fun!
