Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

I teach second grade and have 30 students in my class. I work in an urban school system in Illinois. The majority of my students speak English as a Second Language. I also have a few diverse learners in my class. All of my students are minorities and come from low-income families. All of my students receive free breakfast and lunch at school. Our school is suffering from severe budget cuts, limiting many academic opportunities and services offered at my school. My students are hardworking, full of energy, and curious about the world around them.

My Project

My students need a Mobile Student Work Organizer. This organizer has designated spaces for students to put their complete work. Also, the Mobile Organizer would create an orderly place for my students to put classroom games, manipulatives, or supplies.

Many of my students struggle with organizing their belongings and classroom materials.

These organizers would help my students become more accountable to completing classroom assignments, and teach them responsibility skills. Also, a mobile organizer will teach them to care and respect for classroom materials. Organizational skills will help them become more successful students throughout their future schooling career and job opportunities as an adult.
