This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Students
My students get their breakfast at school each morning before they come to my class. Fuel in their bodies makes them ready to learn and start the day. The school serves free breakfast for 85% of the students and they get to the school early to eat their breakfast that they don’t get at home.
These students are 11-14 year old boys and girls, growing, trying, experiencing, experimenting, challenging and ultimately becoming educated in my classroom.
My classes are all year so I can work with these students in depth with technology, get to know their strengths and weaknesses, and see their creativity develop as their experience with art increases.
They are in uniform and some kids have uniforms that fit and are clean and others have uniforms that are too big, too small and don't really look clean. The majority of kids are happy and energetic and ready to learn. Some students have trouble staying awake and staying focused.
My Project
We hope to have this new technology for students to try at this high poverty school where students will not have the chance to try this except for at their school. We have a 3D printer were students can design their projects on the computer and then watch it print but to actual create their drawings with a 3D pen will be exciting and students can't wait. They are already exploring what drawings will work and won't work with these pens.
Students are so excited to try the latest technology in the classroom with their drawings becoming "alive" and real with 3D pens.
They don't understand how this is possible
The digital art curriculum is always trying to stay current with what is the latest development with technology and the 3D pen will update the curriculum. This will give students added experience with technology that will later help them when job searching.
More than three‑quarters of students from low‑income households
