Dr. Seuss once said "The more that you read, the more things you will know. The more that you learn, the more places you'll go." Think back to the first time you read a book on your own. Do you remember the excitement you felt? I would like to bring that joy to my first grade students!
I work in a school where 75% of my students are on free and reduced lunch.
Their parents are working to provide for them so they do not have time to take them to the library or museums. The only opportunities that my students receive are the ones they receive from school. Having your support in purchasing these items will be greatly appreciated.
My Project
I have asked for a wide range of fiction and nonfiction books for my students. It is important that students are able to read for information and to read for fun. I have also asked for book baskets to keep the books organized. It can get crazy in a first grade classroom so it is important for students to know exactly where they can get a book from and where to return it.
As I was packing up my room at the end of the school year I realized just how outdated my classroom library had become.
With your support I can restock my library and get my students excited about reading.
