I teach five science classes. A day in my classroom involves group discussions, labs, and the learning and understanding of new material.
By the end of the school year, I want my students to achieve not only academically but also to engage fully in science and apply new or further-developed skills
Teaching at a school within the inner city can be quite a difficult job.
However, it is a very unique job because within those schools there are always many students who are very enthusiastic in learning. My students are very motivated to learn and and want to extend their knowledge in science. I currently teach college preparatory physics classes and IB Chemistry Level 3 classes. The iPad is equipped with technology that provides the opportunity to enhance lessons by making learning much more interactive. Not only does this allow my students the ability to learn much more efficiently visually, but it also allows them to experience the technology that they will have access to in the future, such as college.
My Project
I use the document reader and the projector which is connected to my computer. Whenever I use it, I need to stand in front of the classroom so that I can use either the computer or the document reader. A teacher in a science class, or any class in general, needs to be more engaged with the students. I want walk around the classroom and look at students' work while I am continuing to teach the material. The best app for this function is using Doceri Interactive Whiteboard. It is very convenient to use. It allows me engage with all my students, which is important especially because I have about 30 students in one classroom. I want to give enough attention to every single student in my class so that each can achieve their personal academic success.
This project will prove to be an extremely rewarding and impacting change for my students.
Many of my students don't have access to computers, and our school computers are outdated. However, this donation of an iPad can give all my students the opportunity to access 21st century learning. They can gain experience on what it is like learning with up-to-date technology that they will most likely encounter in their future years.
