The 20-21 school year has not begun and still has a lot of unknowns. I am hoping to provide my students with devices that they can use in the classroom so they are better prepared for 21st Century skills and learning. My school is a middle income elementary school. We do not receive Title I funding, yet most of the families do not have a great deal of money to help support special school projects. About 48% of the students receive free/reduced lunch and 1/3 are English Language Learners.
I want each of my students to have the best possible learning environment to meet their individual needs.
My third graders come from a wide range of socioeconomic backgrounds and a wide range of cultures which helps to make our class interesting and fun.
My Project
I want to prepare my 3rd grade students for the continued use of technology throughout school and eventually in the workplace. These laptops will also prepare them for the possibility of returning to Distance Learning.
These laptops will help my students learn how to navigate our curricular websites.
Students will be able to read fiction and non-fiction books online, annotate while reading, write responses, play math games, and use online math tools/manipulatives for solving problems.
The world-wide pandemic has required us to think, plan, and teach differently. Laptops will help me expand my students' knowledge and ability to learn in different settings.
