This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Students
Our school is located a few miles away from a large metropolitan city. My students' families are working class and usually, both parents work. The families in our community are very involved and want the best for the children and trust the teachers at our school wholeheartedly.
My students are enthusiastic 6th graders who truly enjoy working in groups, using technology and being creative.
80% of my students are English Language Learners and although they might struggle with academic language and correct grammar usage, they are still very inquisitive and persistent in finding answers.
My Project
My students need Chromebooks in order to be able to do research on current events and work with their peers on projects.
With Chromebooks, my students can share their documents with each other in real time and get authentic feedback from their peers.
This is very important as they learn that feedback does not always come from a teacher.
Aside from getting feedback from their peers, they can also share work in order to work together on projects. Simultaneously working on a project gives every student the feeling that they matter and that their work matters. With Chromebooks no time is wasted!
Finally, we also need an mobile audio center to lock our new technology and keep safe. With the cart available to students, not only will we be able to store our new computers, but students will learn to be responsible in making sure our technology is safe.
Nearly all students from low‑income households
Data about students' economic need comes from the National Center for Education Statistics, via our partners at MDR Education. Learn more
