I am the very lucky teacher of a wonderful group of learners!
My 27 second graders represent ten countries and speak over 14 different languages.
Over ninety percent of my students receive free or reduced lunch. Many of my students are English Language Learners who benefit from hearing stories come alive. Books on tape and CD are a great way for all learners to enjoy stories.
My Project
My students deserve the best and I would like to update their audio book selection. Our school currently has a small selection of books on tape shared by the whole school. My students have listened to many of these stories before and are bored with them. For my students to be able to hear and see books they love, like the Junie B. Jones series, on tape it will encourage them to keep reading. For students who are not able to independently read chapter books they will relish the chance to hear these wonderful stories. Hearing books read aloud helps students build their fluency and comprehension--crucial skills for all readers.
Reading opens many doors for students.
Please consider making a gift to give the love of reading to a group of well deserving kids. With your help my students can enjoy reading in a 21st century way!
