Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Students
The library is the heart of our school! Daily, students navigate in and out of the library excited to make use of all the resources available for them. For most of these students, the school library is the only place they will visit that gives them access to check-out books, use a computer or iPad, learn coding, as well as visit the Makerspace.
For many, the library is a door to the world that they might not experience otherwise!
99% of the school population receives free breakfast, lunch, and dinner. Students at our campus lack the means to these materials or even travel to access them elsewhere.
My Project
The 21st century library should provide a welcoming common space that encourages exploration, creation, and collaboration among students, teachers, and the community. We want to provide the modern real-world feel for our students that universities and public libraries already provide.
Flexible seating will continue to inspire students to construct new knowledge and meaning from everything that surrounds them by inviting them to communicate and collaborate.
The flex-space chairs and floor seats will provide the comfort and mobility needed in the library for students to navigate through the different resources available and to adjust to their needs as they read, research, use iPads or computer, or visit the Makerspace.
