Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

My class consists of 10 special education students who strongly benefit from hands on learning as well as the use of technology. With the addition of iPads to my classroom, my students will benefit from hands-on learning through the use of technology.

My students are a group of special education students in an urban school in a very low socio-economic area.

They love learning through the use of computers and our SmartBoard. They could benefit so much more from the addition of 2 iPads to our classroom. In the technology based world we live in, my students would benefit from the use of more technology being incorporated into the classroom.

My Project

We are asking for 2 iPads for our classroom to help provide the multi-sensory instruction that my students so vitally need. The iPads will increase the technology we use in the classroom. We currently use the SmartBoard for whole-class instruction. The interactive components of the SmartBoard help engage the students in learning. For example, during our study of animals in rural communities we watched videos that provided facts and information, as well as listened to sounds animals make. This is one of the many ways we have used the SmartBoard in our lessons. The iPads will be used to enhance instruction by providing hands-on learning opportunities. Students will work on the iPads to improve their reading, writing and math skills. Students will use the iPad to play interactive word games, math games, have stories read aloud, use voice-over apps to record their writing, publish our work and more.

My students need these iPads to help make our learning better, prepare us for a technology rich world and create a robust learning environment.

The school budget provides limited resources. We need your help.
