The students I serve are eager to learn, have great ideas and a willingness to experiment. Last school year, I taught the students about earth-day, and they were so impressed that they asked to if they could find recyclable items to make flower planters for mothers day. The students recognized the recycle logo on the cereal breakfast bowls that the school provides, brought it to my attention, and suggested that the bowls are large enough to start a planter. Although the supplies were limited the students created beautiful planters for their mother's day/earth-day project.
These students come from low socio-economic backgrounds, with limited resources, yet they are eager to learn and create projects.
They care about the environment and love their mothers, thus they want to do their best and make their parents proud. This is one example of why my students are special and why I choose to teach.
My Project
The Kindle Fire tablets will give my students the opportunity to use internet based learning programs and apps. Many of my students do not have access to technology at home and these tablets will be another platform for the students to access our standards and curriculum.
I will use these tablets in centers to enhance student learning in reading and math.
The students will be able to work on fluency skills, and the materials will be differentiated meeting the needs of every student. I will also utilize these tablets for after-school tutoring program for at risk students from my class
Nearly all students from low‑income households
