This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

For most of my children, this is their first experience being away from home and being separated from their families. Being away from home is difficult for most students but compounded with the pandemic, it can be a traumatic experience, none the less they come to school each day, full of energy, curiosity, excited to be here and ready to learn and play! To them, school is a place where they feel safe, loved, and valued. This difficult transition is also affected by their already existing life circumstances.

100 % of our children come from low-income households and receive free breakfast and lunch.

With the right help, you can help inspire our children to become future scientists, doctors, explorers, and inventors as they learn through play.

My Project

Our youngest learners might not be able to read and write in the beginning of the year, but they still have a need to express themselves. Through their paintings and artistic creations, children express their thoughts, ideas, and emotions while having fun!

Art materials like paints, playdough, and craft materials are essential in a Pre-K classroom because it helps children develop 21st-century skills like communication, critical-thinking skills, and creativity as well as reading and writing skills in a fun and engaging way.

When children are painting and creating their artwork, they are developing fine motor skills as they sculpt their sculpture using playdough, critical thinking as they make a mental plan of their artwork, math skills as they create shapes, and language skills as they describe and share their artwork. Children learn best when they use their imagination.

By donating to our project, you are not only helping our children become our future Picassos but helping them prepare for kindergarten.
