This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Students
I teach a fifth grade class of highly motivated, enthusiastic learners. We are in a New York City public school located in the borough of The Bronx. I work with them in small groups to help them meet their goals, as well as help them be successful in meeting grade level standards.
The families of my students struggle financially are new to the country, struggling to learn the English language and/or finding employment.
My school is a 100% free lunch school because the majority of the students qualify for the state's free lunch program. Many of students' families are new to the country, struggling to learn the English language and find employment.
My Project
Chromebooks for my classroom would give my students the opportunity to take advantage of the wide variety of technology resources that are available to them. I want to teach my students how to utilize technology in meaningful, relevant and efficient way. Our current classroom computers shut down unexpectedly and don’t have up-to-date software for students to access interactive websites. With these donations, you are exposing an underprivileged population of NYC students to resources that will build their literacy and mathematical concepts. In addition, the students who are struggling to develop their basic skills will enjoy concepts through videos and games.
Technology is an increasing element in daily lives of people worldwide.
In order to be successful in the 21st century, my students need exposure to technology to learn how to use it effectively and efficiently. With these computers I hope to further my students’ academic interests with videos, research, and interactive activities. Having these resources will allow students who often felt defeated in the classroom become more engaged and develop a love for education so they can be productive.
