This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

I work at an amazing school. Our community is close-knit, and I am very fortunate to have the support of the community around me. Each year my students represent all backgrounds, socio-economic levels, learning styles and abilities.

I believe my students ARE mathematicians.

I strive to create an environment where we see math all around us. Helping students see the value of learning and the power of being a mathematician will stay with them beyond my time as a teacher.

My Project

Our headphones are out dated and really are uncomfortable. I would like to provide every student with earbuds. The earbuds will help students focus and listen clearly to educational programs; such as Reflex Math and i-Ready. We are also piloting flexible seating. We have yoga balls and ottomans. I would like to add to our classroom a gaming chair. The gaming chair would allow movement (rocking) in addition to comfort and more flexible seating choices.

Having a flexible seating classroom allows students to work their best work in an environment that they feel comfortable in.
