This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Students
My students need more hands on activities that they can use to do actual science experiments. All of the students need an opportunity to conduct experiments individually. We need more tools to allow more students to be actively engaged in all experiments.
My students are in a Title 1 school located in the mist of a residential community.
Our school is a Primary Year Programme school with about 850 students. The students are yearning for more meaningful learning. My students are English Language Learners and regular education students. Most of them are from low income homes, and they are really enjoying the year. I want to make sure they are inspired to close the learning gaps in the area of science by giving every child to have hands on experience when participating in small group experiments. Research shows that the small group setting is the most effective way to teach children. We have more students this year, and the budget is tight. We do not have enough supplies to go around and the students are very disappointed when they don't get a chance to actually do the experiment.
My Project
Our students are in need of more challenging activities to spark their interest in learning more about the opportunities cool careers in science. These materials will help motivate the students to explore many motivating experiments that will help them to understand the important role of scientists. They will be able to go outside to measure the temperature with the thermometer, and the graduated cylinders will allow all of the students to participate in the experiments. The weather chart will be used to chart the weather and talk about how weather can impact lives. In addition, they will see that being a scientist who studies the weather is cool career career to have.
This project will be a catalyst to expose the students to become more knowledgeable about science.
It will help inspire them to think about all of the wonderful opportunities that are in their future with a cool career in science. Oh the places my 21st Century can explore in the world of science. Help me donors to motivate my students into being a class of young scientist who are ready to explore new frontiers. There will be jobs for them on the Mars Colony.
