My Students

As a teacher in a high-poverty school district, my students are often faced with challenges in and out of the classroom. One of these challenges is lack of adequate technology. Even though they face issues daily, I am looking to instill a love of learning into each student. The students in my classroom include speakers of other languages, and students with exceptional needs. My students are creative and enjoy discovering. They take pride in their work and effort, and challenge each other in positive ways. My students are supportive of each other, and are constantly growing.

Despite many coming from single-parent households and low socioeconomic status, their potential and growth are endless, and they deserve opportunities and experiences.

They inspire me to continue learning, and I want to do the same for them. They are our future and I want to give them a head start to a successful life.

My Project

The increased use of technology in the classroom is both a joy and a concern in my daily routine. When able, students create projects and powerpoints, type up their essays, use educational websites, and research topics that they are inspired about. While many students have either access to a tablet or computer at home, some of my students only experience technology at school. Computer knowledge and typing skills are necessary for the workforce of today, and technology will only increase with time. The materials that I am requesting will allow my students to achieve competency of basic skills that will guide them toward the digital future.

By donating to our project, you are directly putting technology into the hands of students, and you will ultimately help them to increase their technological achievements.

Students will be able to focus on their classwork without worry of waiting for an open computer, or have to work in large groups to complete research on a website. They will also be able to work without fear of distracting others because the headphones will allow each student to hear the educational videos and approved programs they are focused on. This will change our students' lives, and ultimately increase their academic achievement.
