This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Project
When we come back in August, I would like to have updated my classroom space to be warm, welcoming, and also enticing with a library of books on display, snacks for hungry kids, and beautiful decorated walls and cabinets.
Creating an inviting space is so important to helping students learn.
If a classroom is an inviting space that opens their minds and fills their bellies, then students want to be there and are willing to participate in a more meaningful manner. Art on the walls, books on shelves, calming, soft lights around the room to offset the florescent lights in the ceiling, pens and markers for daily class use, and snacks in the cabinet for when they're hungry will create this inviting space for my students.
