This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Project

This year's Sunshine State Young Readers Award (SSYRA) books for grades 3-5 will keep the students' interest in reading growing. The SSYRA list has just been released, so I am hoping to get a head start for the next school year. This way, when school starts and we preview these books and make our predictions, students can start reading these books right away. Our school also has a contest to read as many of the SSYRA books. Many of the students do not have access to the public library, so having this selection will make the books accessible to them and keep them interested in reading. Using these books will help everyone because the reading levels are varied. They are also different genres, so there will be something for everyone.
