This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Project
All of these items are things that I have previously purchased myself. I am asking Donors Choose for help this year. Below you will find a list of all the materials and how they will be utilized in my classroom.
Sound Wall: I have been taking trainings on the science of reading for the past year.
The sound wall cards include pictures of mouth placement which is very beneficial for students when learning how to read, write, and sound out words. It helps them understand the 'why' behind reading. This resource would be placed on a wall all year to support my instructional practice for students to use to assist them in writing and reading.
Book Bags: I have been using gallon sized Ziplock bags as book bags for my entire 8 years as a teacher. They fall apart and I am looking for something more sturdy that my students can use this upcoming year and beyond.
Card Sleeves: My students use QR codes to login into their student Chromebooks and card sleeves are a helpful way to keep the QR codes organized and intact throughout the year.
Magnetic Wand and Chips: This would be used for game that I learned in a science of reading training called "Tap it, Map it, Zap it." Students use kinesthetic learning to tap out words on their fingers, map the word using chips and zapping it away with the magnetic wand.
Printer Ink: I like to make learning games, print out tags for desks, print out newsletters, valentines, etc. I use lots of ink all year long.
Name tags: These would be their name tags for their classroom cubbies.
Binder/Binder Tabs: As a teacher, I keep a large binder with tabs to keep records of data.
