My students are avid readers who are excited for the newest books. We encourage students to read across all genres throughout middle school and the reading culture here is quite strong. Students frequently come to the library looking for books within certain genres to meet their reading goals.
The students here deserve to have books that are high interest and recently published.
Middle school years are formative and we want to build life-long readers.
My Project
These books will help keep students enagaged with reading and with coming to the library. Students at my school rotate through the library every two weeks with their English class. They receive a lesson on reading or media literacy but they also always have time to check out some books. If there are not new and engaging titles to keep the students interested in checking out books, this time is not very useful. These books will help keep our middle school students engaged with reading all year long. We can never have enough new books!
