it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Students
My first graders are so smart! They learn a lot while seated at our old, stinky and dilapidated rug. The time has come to replace this dirty, and stained rug with a new clean one! This will only be possible with your generous donation!
I currently teach first grade in Chicago.
I have 29 students enrolled in my classroom. The majority of my students come from low-income homes and according to the Illinois State Board of Education, 98% were low-income students in 2008-2009. In addition, all of my students are English Language Learners (ELLS), which means that they speak a second language at home that is not English. As you can see, my students have many obstacles to overcome in their quest for a quality education.
My Project
We learn many things on our classroom rug! Story time, calendar time, show and tell, project presentations and buddy reading all take place on this rug. Therefore, we spend a great majority of our time here! It would be wonderful for us to get a new clean rug to replace the old one, but that is a luxury that my school cannot afford with 98% students at poverty level. Unfortunately, the school's budget has been reduced and your donations are the only way to make this possible.
Please help me create a clean and warm learning environment for my students that will encourage intellectual growth!
