1st Grade Tackles the Common Core

My students need journals, common core cards and other materials that are common core aligned, in order to increase their comprehension, vocabulary, and math skills. They need journals, and center activities.

Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

As the common core is flooding the classrooms the students seem to be more challenged then ever. Their biggest obstacle is being able to communicate their thoughts and explain their thought process.

I teach a first grade CTT class, the students are integrated in a class with special education and general education students while having the benefit of two teachers.

They students are mixed and come from all backgrounds and religions. The students ability is on a variety of levels, from below level to above level.

My Project

By donating these material to our class our students will be able to tackle the difficulty of the common core standards. They would be able to use the journals to express their ideas, also they will be exposed to the common core by using the "I can" cards. In addition the students will use the center kits to brush up on their skills during center time, as well as, be able to work at home with their parents to reinforce these skills.

The donation for this project will improve our students reading skills, expressive language, mathematics as well as confidence.

It will also encourage the students to take risks and self navigate. In addition, this will help the parents and students work together at home to review the skills taught.
