This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

Our day begins with a quick "Hello" and "Today is going to be a great day." Students know that it's all about your attitude. If we begin our day with a positive attitude, we’ll have a positive “great” day. I try to instill the love of learning and desire to be challenged.

I teach an English Language classroom where students speak Spanish as their primary language.

With this comes a whole set of challenges but also great adventures. I have a classroom of 30 vibrant students who are eager to learn and expand their knowledge. I work at a low-income school, where 95% of kids are on free and reduced-price lunch. With this, students don't always come to school with all of the necessary materials that they need to be and feel successful.

My Project

The materials that I am requesting will allow my students to be set up for success. We are switching to become an AVID school, which is a program to set our kids up for success and teach them tools and organization that will help them grow and learn. Every kid will receive a binder and pencil pouch which has all of the materials to help them in and out of the classroom.
