This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

Remember what it feels like to listen to a story and be able to get lost in it? What about remembering your first hands on science center that allowed you discover, explore and learn? Our first grade glass really enjoy and benefit from multi-sensory centers.

We are a Pre-k to 5th school and our school is very multi cultured and diverse.

Our class is a First grade ICT class, it consists of General Education students mixed with Special Education Students. We have 30 students and a wide range of different abilities.

My Project

Our students will be able to use the read along stations and kits as a listening center during our literacy center time. They will enjoy stories read aloud to them with expression and fluency. The read along stories are mixed by genre and reading levels. These stories will encourage the students to develop their fluency and be exposed them to high level vocabulary words. Additionally, the students will use the hands on science centers to explore and discover animal diversity. These materials will bring the curriculum to life and provide an opportunity for all students to learn.

This donation will encourage our kids to read and explore a range of leveled books and it will give them an opportunity to strive for reading higher leveled books within a variety of genres.

It will also give the students a hands on approach to science by providing them with specimen centers and trays to explore animal diversity.
