My Students
My first graders are a great group of students! My classroom is made up of thirty eager first graders. I also have a wide range of reading and math abilities in my classroom. My reading levels range from pre-kindergarten to fourth grade. It's important that I read with these children every day to get them on grade level by the end of the year. Many of my students are very low readers, speak English as a second language and get free or reduced price lunch. These students will do anything for anybody. We are always bringing the best out of everyone. Despite my students' backgrounds, they all have one thing in common and that is their love of learning and helping others.
My Project
One way I like would like to use these book baskets is giving students power over their learning by allowing access to books and to choose whatever sparks their interest. I have tons of books in my classroom that need a home. Getting new book baskets in my classroom will allow me to remove old and unsafe book bins which makes most of the books unreachable to my first graders. Having new, book bins for all the books, will allow me to separate my books based on reading levels and the different interests in the classroom. The book bins will also allow my students to have complete and independent access to all of the books. This would be good for the students because they would know where everything is at and where it is located. Thank you so much for making this possible. We can't wait for our classroom to look like a home.
