My Project
The 18 PLUSS program is a community-based transition program for adults (ages 18-22) with special needs in the Arlington (Texas) Independent School District. The goal of our program is to give our young adults the skills needed to live a productive life as a member of our community. We strive for maximum independence in all areas. In addition to vocational and social skills we also teach financial literacy.
With my classroom economy project we will take part in a simulation of a real-world economic activity-earning a salary (for community and classroom jobs) and paying bills and fines (as needed).
With the 'money' they have left over at the end of week they will be able to 'buy' yummy treats and games from our school store (the gifts from DonorsChoose). This project will teach the students the importance of saving and spending wisely-all while having fun!
