My Project
As my students embark on their final year of school our class will be starting off by focusing on stress management and coping skills. My goal is to provide a supportive and enriched learning environment for students to test and hon these life skills. These will be essential to their success for not only completing high school, but also as they enter adulthood.
Examples of areas we will be exploring are: guided breathing, music, alternate lighting, yoga, journaling, affirmations, sensory, learning to plan and time management, goal setting, creating peer support systems, and how our physical environment effects us.
In addition, two factors that I believe contribute to a successful learning environment are community and well a maintained space where students feel pride and ownership. To promote both these we will be have Friday Community Clean. During lunch any student that would like to join can come the classroom to patriciate in cleaning, caring and maintaining our classroom. Students may also at this time use the record player, enjoy destressing on yoga mats, journaling, eating lunch with friends, etc.
