This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

My wonderful and warm-hearted students range in the age of six to seven-years old. Many of my students have obstacles blocking their success to their academic social journey. Most live in poverty, struggle with the English language and have very limited resources. Some of my students are homeless or live in foster care.

If you were to visit our classroom, you would never know my students were faced with so much adversity in their lives.

The excitement and willingness to learn are what you will see and love!

Due to COVID, unfortunately, my students were unable to completely grasp all of Kindergarten standards because the lack of math manipulatives and other resources the students did not have. I hope to buy materials to help them “catch up” when they are in small groups/centers.

My Project

Because of COVID, my first graders were not able to fully grasp number sense and operations back in Kindergarten. Unfortunately, some couldn't even count and understand numbers.

I KNOW these resources requested will be successful for the students to build an understanding of addition and subtraction and how both operations work as a family.

It also will better prepare them for second grade. For my students that haven't quite grasped the counting and numbers, the extra practice will gain confidence in their ability to go to the next step of addition and subtraction equations.

This project will build extra support to assist my students and it will be fun for them.
