Do you remember when your teacher would pull out a pile of worksheets and tell you to complete them? Help my students never experience a worksheet day!
I have 22 students that entered kindergarten with a wide range of abilities.
Many students can count to 100, recognize numbers and complete simple patterns. Some, however, can only count to 10 and cannot distinguish between letters and numbers. While still some are able to complete simple addition and subtraction problems! There is never a dull moment in our math block. These students have learned how to participate in small math groups, work independently and play games with buddy! They are really thriving and loving math every day!
My Project
These math games that I am requesting for my students will allow them to play these games independently or with a buddy while working on specific skills. These will be used during our math block time. While I am meeting with small groups of students, the other students will be able to choose a math game on their level to work on. This ensures that all students are actively working on math skills. Every student is seen in a math group and works independently so it is very important to have a wide range of activities available for students to choose from.
Kindergarten is such a vital year in a child's education.
It is the year that all foundations are established. I want to build a strong math foundation but also a love for math. By donating to this project you will help make our math block a fun time of the day while working on important foundational skills!
