This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

Every morning my students begin their day with breakfast and reading a book in a quiet place in the room. Once that time is over we practice writing our names and our letter of the week! My students love using the letter of the week chart to practice the letter!

My students are the most sweet and loving children I have ever met!

My children come from very low income families and truly enjoy being in school. They enjoy looking at books and dictating stories to me in their own words. They also love trying to guess what the new letter of the week is and finding things in our room that begin with that letter. Our school is in a very low income neighborhood but is still very supportive to our students, families and our staff, we feel as if we are a community working together to improve the lives of children and the neighborhood.

My Project

Each day I plan on incorporating these requested teaching tubs into circle time. We review our letter of the week each day and I feel that this will help my visual and kinesthetic learners. Having objects to use to create a more concrete understanding of the phonetic sounds of each letter. Once they are able to make connections of sounds to individual letters, I feel that it will help prepare them for kindergarten, identify letters, and begin reading. That is my goal for my students before they leave to kindergarten.

This donation will improve my classroom because it is something that I feel is a necessity to help my children learn.

It is a fun approach that they will enjoy to work with and learn from. Many of my students do not have anyone to work with them at home or books in the household, so for them to have something like this in the classroom will really engage them and help them apply what they learn. This will help the begin the literacy process for them.
