My Students

I have a classroom of diverse learners who are eager to learn and have many ways of learning. Some of our students are very high academically, but struggle with the English language and communicating what they know. Others are great at communicating, but may need more assistance with the academic side of learning.

For kindergarten students, playing is learning--hands-on learning!

My students love to use manipulatives of all kinds to help them with their math learning and application. My students are so excited about learning; I see it in their eyes and through their enthusiasm and engagement in their learning activities.

My Project

Hands-on learning is vital for Kindergarten students. The opportunity for each of my students to be able to count, "make," and compare the numbers from 0-20 in ten frames will help build a solid foundation for the rest of their math skills in elementary school.

Ten frames have been proven to give students a great understanding of base ten and basic counting and cardinality.

My students may already have the numbers 0-10 and I am already looking forward to seeing how they will take that information and apply it to addition and subtraction as well as working with the teen numbers. These 10-frames will help my students as we practice those skills and make it fun and hands-on!
