I will have anywhere from 15-60, Kinder-6th grade students with dyslexia who are eager to learn and come to school every day with a big bright smile on their face knowing that they are receiving the best education!
Their school is a low-income school, so often they do not receive all the materials they need in order to help them be successful.
I want the very best for my students to make sure they are making gains and learning everything they need to know before moving on to the next grade level.
My Project
The materials that have been asked for will help students in my classroom daily. I have requested two different dyslexia short stories for my students. Those who are entering the program from another district or starting within the district will receive a book to help understand about dyslexia. I am also requesting whiteboard markers and expo cleaning, since the majority of their lessons will be spent using the whiteboard. Many of them also need help with their handwriting. A storage drawer so the students can store their materials in that they use daily. A bookshelf so each individual kit can be stored on in the classroom (there is no storage space in the room or shelving areas). There are mechanical pencils for the students to HAVE and take with them. There will also be some used in the classroom. When students are rewarded, their favorite reward to receive is CANDY! I'm requesting various types of candy for when the students complete their master checks and have a great day in the classroom. All materials are to stay with the dyslexia department and travel with the teacher if placed at another location within the district.
