My Students
A computer can be the difference between just learning and exploring to learn.
I have a tiny room with only 14 kindergartners from lower middle-class homes.
Our building is over 80% low income. My kids are enthusiastic about learning, especially on rare occasions when they get to use technology and "play" educational games on computers.
My Project
Our room has 2 computers that will power a literacy program on CD and not much else. There is no teacher computer for attendance, report cards, or online grading. Our district has an awesome new math program that involves going online for great resources to supplement our learning, but I have very limited ability to access it. I would also love to use virtual field trips and show my kids what life is like in places they may never get to visit. A computer would change all of that for my little ones. I would like a laptop so that it is portable and I can use it in different ways around the room. Thank you for your consideration of my little part of our building!
Technology is the wave of the future.
Kids need to be exposed to using computers as early as possible. Even though it is only 1 computer, it will help us expand our learning beyond the walls of our classroom and help give my kids a strong start in their educations.
