My Students
My amazing middle school students are smart, creative, spontaneous, and full of a love of learning! They come to school each day with lots of questions about the world around them. Whether working on math problems or conducting science experiments, my students love to learn by doing.
Our school serves many military families from the nearby Air Force base, a Navy EOD school, and an Army Special Forces cantonment.
We are in a unique area to have military families from so many different branches of service. Because of the challenges of military life, my students are resilient and hard-working.
My Project
Disc golf is the fastest-growing sport in the world. Disc golf is not only fun but also provides an avenue for physical activity with a minimum amount of equipment. Players of any skill level and athletic ability can enjoy it.
This project will give our students a disc golf course on our campus as another outdoor sport.
Our students will be learning much more than how to throw a Frisbee. Disc golf teaches not only throwing, hand/eye coordination, and accuracy but also patience and teamwork. They will be actively engaged in learning how to putt and drive using these new discs and basket targets.
Creating a disc golf course will allow our students to experience something new while helping them become physically fit. So many of our students go home and spend hours on their devices in front of a screen. Disc golf will give our students the opportunity to get outdoors and exercise. Creating a positive experience through disc golf will show students that there are many avenues for staying physically active.
