The students in my classroom are full of life and eager to learn. My students come from various social-economic backgrounds, but the majority of them are from low-income homes. We have many single-parent homes, students living with grandparents, and even some students who live with foster families. The students also have different cultural backgrounds, so learning in our area is always interesting and eventful. My students are special because they are loving, compassionate, and they love making others feel good about themselves. Working with them each day is certainly a joy!
My Project
Nothing was more exciting, when I was a kid learning math, than for a teacher to bring out a game to reinforce what was taught. Now that I am that teacher, I love bringing those games out to excite my children. Our biggest math skill in 3rd grade is to master multiplication facts! We make flash cards each year from index cards, and I really wish that I had a set of flash cards they could practice with instead! These sets of cards will give me a set for each child, so that students can challenge themselves or a partner! Plus, it’s not just multiplication, it’s most of the basic facts needed!!!!
Nearly all students from low‑income households
