I work at a Title 1 school. The majority of my students come from a low income neighborhood and a low income family. Some of my students' parents work two jobs to provide for their children.
Although the school year just started I know my students are eager to learn.
During introductions and throughout the day, they told me a lot about themselves, and I know as the year progresses I will learn so much more. I want form a lasting relationship with my students. I want them to feel as though I trust them and I want them to trust me.
My Project
Most of the learning in my class takes place in the afternoon. They have resource, lunch, recess, and science during the morning. Once the students return from lunch it is non-stop learning. The students cover math for ninety minutes, ELA, reading, and writing for the remaining hour and forty minutes.
The students seem to lose energy by the afternoon.
The students work, but it seems as thought I am not getting their best. I feel these snacks will provide the necessary energy they need to focus on the task at hand. I want to ensure I am doing all I can to help my students to succeed.
