Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Project
An iPad in my SPED classroom from 4th to 6th grade will positively affect the development of my students' literacy and math skills. Moreover, using an iPad will enhance my students' communication skills since their primary disability is autism. When my students use apps to access the curriculum, it adds a different dimension to it. They see it as play and are more enthusiastic about learning using educational apps that boost language and social interaction between my students. For some students, manipulating a keyboard, mouse, and screen can be very difficult and overwhelming, but the touch screen and all-in-one components of an iPad make it easier for my students not only to use but also to master the process of technology.
From classroom centers to reading digital books, the iPad offers numerous ways to eliminate paper, saving dollars and the environment.
It can also be taken outside on warm days when I take my students outside to explore the environment. The iPad will help my students develop skills such as typing, multi-touch navigation, problem-solving with puzzles and games, and many others.
