Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
This is my first year teaching 5th grade and I need a classroom library filled with meaningful and personally interesting books!
While the best predictor of reading success is the amount of time spent reading, reading achievement is also influenced by the exposure, amount, and diversity of reading material.
By providing access to a rich classroom library, I hope to promote greater amounts of reading, increased reading frequency, and more diverse reading experiences among my students, thus helping them to attain greater levels of reading achievement.
With the classroom library books that I chose I hope to effectively match my students to texts that can be read with success, thus assisting them to grow as life-long readers!
This project will directly impact historically underfunded classrooms.
