My students need LEGO supplies to stretch their brain, build through imagination, and learn to think creatively! They also need a subscription to Weekly Reader, write and wipe pockets, and a math game.
FULLY FUNDED! Ms. Clark's classroom raised $394

My Students
Oral language is said to be the first building block to literacy, and I'm hoping to literally use BUILDING BLOCKS to encourage oral storytelling! As you can see, the bulk of my list is Legos- I'm hoping to use Legos to jumpstart creative storytelling and engage small motor skills as well!
My kiddos come from a small (SMALL!) town in Virginia and struggle with poverty and low literacy.
I'm hoping by introducing literacy in a FUN and different way (oral storytelling with Lego creations, to writing down the stories, to reading each other's stories!), I can jump start the literacy process- all while having a blast!
My Project
Legos, legos, legos! We're going to build a story - share the story - write down the story - and read each other's stories- bingo, bango, my kiddos will be storytelling, reading, and writing, and it will all be done before they even know it!
I've also included some Weekly Readers my students will be able to take home, a math board game, and some supplies for word study.
I'm a first year teacher, and I may have stars in my eyes about what I can do and the lives I can change, but that's okay - I hope I have stars in my eyes every single year I teach.
By funding this project, you're contributing to literacy, engaging otherwise reluctant learners, and (maybe) most importantly, contributing to the theory that school is fun and learning can happen in creative and engaging ways. Thank you so much!
