My science scholars would love the opportunity to work hands-on with anatomical models while we learn about the structure and functions of the human body.
They are 6th, 7th, and 8th grade students in an under-funded urban school in Missouri.
They are at a very inquisitive age that is perfect for scientific inquiry. Science concepts tend to be very 'blah' and boring when they are read directly from a textbook or heard about during lectures. Applying the concepts to things students enjoy, such as drawing and in-class demonstrations, makes science come alive for them!
My Project
Having access to these models and materials will improve my students' academic success. Given the financial constraints of our school and district, we do not have updated textbooks available for instruction. As a result, the students take notes during lectures and draw diagrams from the PowerPoint display. Imagine their delight and engagement if they could have the opportunity to touch and manipulate models of the brain, heart, and body or use models as an aid while they draw diagrams of the organs!
Your donation to this project will make a difference in my science scholars' lives by engaging them in the content, exciting their curiosity about science, and bringing the wonders of science into our classroom.
Help inspire my students and instill in them a life-long love of learning.
