I am a teacher in one of the most poverty stricken environments in Tennessee. The consistent obstacles that my students face on a daily basis is inconceivable. They need more motivation than most to leave the reality of their lives behind them so they can focus on learning.
My students are creative and street smart.
They have had to grow up well before their time, and they deserve to spend their time at school being excited and motivated. The children I service have little to no experience with the world that exists outside of their neighborhood. They need to be able to connect with the global perspective and broaden their possibilities.
My Project
I am requesting and ipod touch for my students because I believe that when my students have a reason to get motivated in the classroom, they are capable of anything. My students often do not feel this way about themselves. Their self esteem is often wounded by their real world experiences. I feel that having access to a motivational piece of learning equipment (ipod touch) will peak their interests in all subject areas. Please help me light the fire of inspiration in our children.

I am so grateful that you are considering our project. My students have, in most cases, been "dealt a bad hand". When I started teaching I was overwhelmed with anxiety and constantly pondering the question, "What can I do". The simple truth is that many of us do not see the chance to impact these children regularly. I urge you to take this rarefied opportunity to spark an inspiration.
