Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
Students in my 8th grade classes are all students with various sorts of learning challenges that result in low grades, low self-esteem, short attention spans, and low motivation to attempt to learn. In reviewing the different possibilities for classroom use, I came across an outstanding tool that would bring United States history alive.
Since our school has a severe lack of technology available to general education classroom teachers, it is important that alternative learning options be made available to students (and to teachers). The Interactive Student Workbook that is offered for purchase by the Teachers Curriculum Institute is an outstanding tool that would augment the outstanding textbook that our school has chosen to use with the 8th grade United States history students. In addition, I would also like to ensure that each student in my classes has a spiral composition notebook for notetaking purposes.
There are not sufficient monies to purchase such materials for individual classes, thus I am asking for your assistance in granting this learning chance to students who often go longing and unresponded to by traditional sources.
The Interactive Student Workbook combined with spiral composition pads will allow the students to tap into their multidimensional learning styles as individuals, and will assist the students in finding their own successes with the content of United States history.
This project will directly impact historically underfunded classrooms.
