Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
One of the things that I emphasize in all my classes is peer collaboration and peer assessment.
In my digital media classes, students present their work both formally and informally. I would collect their work digitally and show their work in a slide show format using an LCD projector. They also share their work with each other for immediate feedback on their work.
In my science classes, students create projects such as brochures, PowerPoint presentations, and video narratives, all relating to the science content that they are learning. As part of their project, the student groups present their project to the rest of the class for peer assessment.
Using the WiJet G Wireless Video Extender will allow my class to collaborate and go through peer assessment reviews in a more dynamic and interactive manner. The video extender will basically make my LCD projector into a wireless hub, where computers that have WiFi capability (my students use laptops, some have their own)can connect to the projector.
As a teacher I can facilitate discussion by broadcasting my signal to the rest of the laptops and broadcasting it to the LCD as well. I can control who gets to use the extender, and for how long.
Ultimately, The technology can be seamlessly integrated to our peer assessment and presentation sessions, allowing the kids to focus on the content that they are learning.
This project will directly impact historically underfunded classrooms.
