My students need an ELMO document camera to capture images in text and to model demonstrations.

My Students
Science is often overlooked in the quest to better improve leaning in students with disabilities. With a 57 percent national graduation rate for students with disabilities, it is critical that classroom instruction is engaging, motivating, and challenging. It can be a struggle to teach science to students with disabilities.
However, I have a classroom full of students that are open to learning and curious about science. Many of the students have not had the exposure to the underlying skills usually taught in lower grades and the majority lack the skill to read the more technical language of high school science.
I believe that I can find the resources to motivate my students to grow in this new element. When a new resource is brought into the classroom, my students light up, are eager to learn, and more importantly, they realize the meaning of learning. My students are hard working and giving their best. I am hoping that I can bring the best technology in to help them access and engage in science as much as possible.
My Project
As an educator, it is my responsibility to make ALL material accessible to my students. By providing an Elmo, my students will be able to follow step-by-step modeling to better guide their learning.
Using the ELMO I will be able to project their textbook and read aloud modeling fluent and accurate reading of science terminology to my students. Also,I will be able to demonstrate dissecting skills during labs. I have access to a projector in my classroom but need this visual presenter to enhance the student experience.
An Elmo will bring my instruction to life and is one of the simplest and most effective ways of enhancing classroom instruction for students with disabilities. The ELMO document camera allows for all students to develop visual aids for use in their presentations without the use of any special supplies, computers or software.
Technology can open these doors and break down barriers for youth with disabilities.
You will make it possible for my students to enhance their passion for science, and better equip them for their post-secondary plans.
This project will directly impact historically underfunded classrooms.
