Projector for Cart Teacher and Students!

My students need a projector to watch science videos, powerpoints, and experimental demos ESPECIALLY since I do not have my own classroom!

FULLY FUNDED! Ms. P.'s classroom raised $825

My Students

Imagine trying to teach science in a classroom that has NO science equipment and no experiments are permitted to be conducted! Science without experiments? How is that possible??

My students are seniors and juniors in an environmental science and contemporary issues in science elective class.

They are taking this class because they do not want to take another math class to complete their requirements to graduate. They attend a high poverty school in a high poverty neighborhood and they all have high dreams of achieving great things in their futures including college! My students have had 3 years of science and have had trouble seeing the relevance of science to their lives. Being in environmental science, I want them to see the relevance of the environment to EVERY humans life and how they can actually be critical thinkers about scientific problems to help solve the environmental crisis in our world today.

My Project

I do not currently have my own classroom so I have a cart that I move and push along to different classrooms during the day. The classrooms that I teach in are definitely not science labs and are not equipped with the tools and materials needed to perform large classroom experiments. A projector will help my students see science through the lens of my computer - through PowerPoint, science videos, and experiment demos. Science is a very hands on subject and not being able to experience the hands on part of science is a detriment to my students. They will never learn critical thinking without being able to see experiments and videos regarding science and global environmental issues. Many of my students are also visual learners and a projector is crucial to their success. A projector will also help me be more efficient in terms of getting to class on time and getting right into the important material instead of writing on the board everything that I need to write!

A projector is CRUCIAL for my science students, especially since they are not in a science classroom and unable to perform their own experiments.

Environmental Science is a global issue that is also relevant to student lives - being able to show videos about these global issues will engage students and invest them in the class and their own success. They will also be able to think critically about these problems if they can visualize the problems across the globe!
