My Students

The desktop computer that sits in the corner of my room is a dinosaur that slows down the pace of learning for my students. It is also difficult for students to feel engaged with interactive learning websites that have sounds and verbal instructions they can't hear.

My class of second grade students attends a Title I school that is high poverty and located in an urban setting.

My students have a great need for support that will provide them the exposure to learning opportunities that will lead to academic success. Many of my students have limited exposure to technology and would greatly benefit from being able to access a laptop computer that is more consistent with the level of technology that exists today.

My Project

With technology influencing the ways in which people interact, solve problems, and explore the world around them, it would be an amazing opportunity for my students to be able to learn ideas and discover new things through a laptop computer that would provide the full multimedia experience, including sounds. I will be able to use the laptop for all the subject areas I teach, incorporating lesson plans for English language arts and mathematics that are integrated with technology.
