Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
I teach 11th grade Humanities at a school that serves students from the Bronx and Harlem. Our class is built around three "essential questions" including - What is freedom? How have people struggled for freedom? What does it mean to be an American?
We look at American history through the lens of these questions. With so many resources available online and on DVD I want to be able to share them with the students as a whole class. A digital projector would allow me to share short film clips, NY Times photographs, and a plethora of other resources. Since we don't have an entire computer lab for students to use, this is an excellent way to share Internet resources with students. It's also a better way to communicate information via Microsoft PowerPoint and Word.
This project will directly impact historically underfunded classrooms.
