This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

For every problem, there is a solution. I have a problem and I am hoping that you can be part of the solution! My fifth grade students love creating and learning about art, but we don’t have many art supplies. How can they learn about art without the proper supplies? Answer: they can’t.

To help solve this problem, I am requesting some basic, but essential supplies, including 20 liquid water colors, 15 paint trays, 20 paint brush sets, tissue paper, tissues and an optical illusions book to help bring out their inner artist!

Since I work at a school that serves low-income (80%) and English Language Learner (65%) populations, I understand that the vast majority of my student families are focused on making ends meet, and can’t provide many art/school supplies for their children. Many of our parents work multiple jobs in order to put food on the table and a roof over their heads. If they could provide the supplies, I know they would. It’s a matter of priorities, and understandably, art is not high on the list. As you may imagine, art will be a luxury for these children. Art is something my students probably won’t be exposed to at home because of economic restrictions, but it is is something that I am determined to expose them to.

My Project

Economics aside, my students are wonderful, inquisitive children with an incredible drive and dedication to school. As their teacher, I want to provide them with as many opportunities and learning experiences as I can. Art is a fun part of school and an important one. It is something that all students can feel successful at because there is no "right or wrong" answer in art! I plan to hold an after school art program because I would love to teach my students about art techniques, styles, and influential artists. These supplies will help our get our group going!

Your support will allow my students to have access to art supplies, which will allow us to do art and them to express their creativity.

Thank you for your consideration and a desire to make a difference for students across the country. They are America’s future!
