My students need a variety of books at various levels and genres about going green by reducing, reusing, and recycling items in their daily lives.
FULLY FUNDED! Ms. P.'s classroom raised $228
This project is fully funded
My classroom is in a public, inner city, high needs, and a Title I school where over 70% of our students receive a free or reduced lunch. In addition to this, we are a heavily populated multicultural school. Our student body is made up of families speaking twenty six different languages.
Our school received a grant to install solar panel on our roof this past summer. We also received a kiosk placed in the school lobby that graphically reflects the solar energy generated each day by the panels on the roof of the school. My problem is I have few books to support the concepts of the need for solar energy and the need for going green.
These books would benefit my students immensely. The need to reduce, reuse, and to recycle to help save the environment are not yet real to them. These books would be a resource for daily read out loud story to spring board the explorations through classroom discussions on the topic.
Your help will ensure that my students will be well informed on this relevant environmental topic. It will help better inform them, and hopefully their families, on how it is their civic duty to help protect and take care of the earth.
This project will directly impact historically underfunded classrooms.
More than half of students from low‑income households
