Underwater Robotics to Monitor our Local Streams and Reefs
My students need these tools and others (including soldering irons, solder, screwdrivers, wire strippers, etc) in order to build underwater robots that will enable the 5th graders to test and monitor the water in their local beaches and streams.
FULLY FUNDED! Ms. F.'s classroom raised $596
This project is fully funded
Please help foster an interest and love of science and technology in our 5th graders! I teach 4th-6th graders, with a focus in special education. I co-teach in a general education classroom. We are building our science club to include underwater robotics. We are located in a community of very low socio-economic status. We want our students to see science in the real world, beyond text books. In order to provide them with the best, we need help! Our community does not have the necessary resources to provide these 5th graders with the opportunity to build and experiment with underwater robotics. Our program will enable our kids to test and monitor the streams, ocean, and reefs in our area.
The biggest obstacle we have is being able to provide our kids with the necessary supplies and tools to do this project. The students come from homes who are providing what they can and may not be able to provide extra for the projects. The kids are very excited to have the opportunity to possibly build and use these robots.
Our biggest need is for the appropriate tools for building. We will need soldering irons and solder, as well as electric drills, screw drivers, wire strippers, and wire cutters. Through this project we will be able to teach our kids building skills as well as fostering their interest in science and technology. Using the underwater robots they build, they will be able to test, research, and monitor the locals streams, oceans, and reefs. The kids will bring back their information to the community through collaboration with various community programs.
By donating and supporting our school's science club, you will make it possible for my 5th graders to experience science and technology to the highest level. You will be a part of their learning and their development of problem solving skills that allow their community pride to shine. Please help our kids have the opportunity that may not be possible without your help!!!
This project will directly impact historically underfunded classrooms.
